It is easy to get lost in our day-to-day activities. More often than not, we lose touch with ourselves. We feel burdened by society's pressure, lack of control, or the pain we have endured in our lives. Some of us may even have unresolved trauma. In this class, we journey on a path of healing. We reconnect to ourselves through the body. The first part of the class consists of gentle movements. We open up and strengthen our bodies without strain. While moving, several techniques from somatic experiencing will be used, such as interoception. Interoception is the awareness of what's going on within the boundaries of our own skin, perceiving the physical sensations. Instead of prescribing how to breathe, we'll get in touch with the dynamic process of breathing, loving our bodies the way they are. The second part of the class consist of yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep. This is performed while lying down in savasana (corpse pose). Students only need to listen to the verbal instructions, and will (with some practice) enter a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. The parasympathetic system gets activated and imagery is used to process daily impressions and troubling emotions, leading to deep restoration and healing.
